Join the fight for immigrant rights! On Tuesday April 4th at 7pm Make the Road New Jersey will host its first meeting for Aliados (allies) who want to join the fight to defend immigrant rights, build the resistance over the long haul and become allies to an immigrant led movement. There will be volunteer opportunities to directly support immigrants fighting back against deportation. This event is co-sponsored by Blue Wave-NJ and SOMA Action.
Background on Make the Road New Jersey
Make the Road New Jersey is a grassroots, membership based organization of more than 400 immigrant families, based in Union County, NJ. In our two year history, our members have accomplished a great deal: they helped pass sanctuary laws, implemented two successful municipal ID programs that guarantee access to identification to immigrant residents, have taken action to raise the minimum wage in New Jersey and protect immigrant workers. In the wake of President Trump's executive orders, we have led massive resistance actions at the Newark Airport and Elizabeth Detention Center. MRNJ also offers legal and education services and youth development for immigrant and working class families. For more information, follow us on Facebook/Twitter @MaketheRoadNJ.
